OUR TOURS
Porto
Porto is Portugal's second largest city and the one that gave the country its name. Its historic centre has been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996. A city with historical monuments, century-old bridges, parks, and the magnificent Douro River. Let’s not forget about the region’s typical cuisine, namely its famous specialities: from the Francesinha, to Tripas à Moda do Porto and Bacalhau à Gomes de Sá. In 2001 it was considered European Capital of Culture and in 2012 voted Best European Destination by the European Consumers Association.
Aveiro
Aveiro is a city on the west coast of Portugal founded by a lagoon known as Ria de Aveiro. It is characterised by its canals navigated by colourful boats (moliceiros), traditionally used for harvesting seaweed. Not far from the centre is the Cathedral of Aveiro with its prominent belfry and known for its art nouveau style buildings. The Aveiro Museum, located in a former convent, boasts an extravagant tomb made of marble.
Braga
Braga is a city in the very north part of Portugal, northeast of Porto. It is known for its heritage and religious events. To the east, the Bom Jesus do Monte complex has a neoclassical church at the top of an elaborate 17-storey staircase. In the city centre, the medieval-style Braga Cathedral houses a museum of sacred art and the Gothic-style Chapel of the Kings. Nearby, the impressive Paço Arquiepiscopal (Archbishop's Palace) overlooks the Santa Bárbara Garden.
Douro
The Douro Valley could also be called the enchanted valley due to the beauty and enchantment offered by its landscapes. Departing from Porto, where the river flows and where the Douro wines (table wines) and Port (fortified wine) produced on its slopes also flow, we can get to know this World Heritage-classified Cultural Landscape in several ways: by road, by train, on a cruise boat or even by helicopter. You will be touched by all of them.
Guimarães
Guimarães is considered the birthplace of Portugal because it was here that Afonso Henriques, who would become the first king of Portugal, was born. Associated with the formation and identity of Portugal, the historic centre of Guimarães in the area within the walls was classified as World Heritage by UNESCO based on the values of originality and authenticity it was restored with. Today, the city still boasts a harmonious and preserved patrimonial area, portraying itself through graceful iron balconies, granite balconies and porches, manor houses, arches connecting narrow streets, floor slabs smoothed out over time, towers and cloisters. For a moment we can imagine ourselves in a medieval setting where the nobility built their houses, such as the Casa Mota Prego, the Palácio de Vila Flor, do Toural and so many others that give Guimarães its unique atmosphere.
Viana do Castelo
Viana do Castelo is one of the most beautiful cities in northern Portugal. Its participation in the Portuguese Discoveries and, later, in cod fishing show its traditional connection to the sea. Viana do Castelo can be easily reached from Porto, or from Valença for those coming from Spain. You can take in the privileged geographical location of the city next to the sea and the mouth of the river Lima from the Santa Luzia hill. This stunning view and the Temple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Ventura Terra's revivalist building from 1898, can be a starting point for visiting the city.
Serra da Estrela
In either summer or winter, the highest mountain in mainland Portugal is the perfect setting for a few relaxing days in nature. With a maximum altitude of 1993 metres in Torre, the Serra da Estrela is an area of rare scenic beauty with impressive mountain passes where we can experience the silence of the heights to the fullest. Take advantage of these moments in nature to really observe it, noticing the variety of vegetation, the birds or the flocks of sheep led by dogs of the breed the mountain gave its name to.
Coimbra
Coimbra, a riverside city in central Portugal and former capital of the country, is home to a preserved medieval old town and the historic University of Coimbra. Built on the site of a former palace, the university is famous for its Baroque library, the Biblioteca Joanina, and its 18th century bell tower. In the old town is the 12th century Romanesque cathedral, the Sé Velha.
Vila Nova de Foz Côa
Vila Nova de Foz Coa is a Portuguese town located in the Douro sub-region, part of the northern region and the district of Guarda.
It is situated on a plateau in a microclimate characterised by having very hot months in the summer.
It has been in the limelight since rock art carvings dating back to the Upper Palaeolithic period were found on the banks of the Côa River.
The Côa River valley is therefore a unique site in the world as it contains the largest set of open-air figurative representations known to date. They were listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1998.
